Hong Kong Water Activities Foundation (HKWAF) was established as a non-profit charitable organization in December 2020.
It was developed as a response to providing a safe environment for growth for disabled youth and adults dealing with challenges through illness or accidents. Children with intellectual or physical disabilities are more likely to develop mental health difficulties. From just three years of age, children with intellectual and physical disabilities are more likely to develop mental health issues that persist into adulthood. These individuals are four times more likely than their typically developing peers to have diagnosable psychiatric conditions.
